Here’s what the programme says …
David Kay, one of the hidden gems of the Scottish comedy circuit delivers a show of quirky, surreal and delightful ramblings, as seen on The Alternative Comedy Experience: Comedy Central and heard as the reluctant wizard in Modrin McDonald 21st Century Wizard on BBC Radio 4, ‘Kay arrives looking as though he should be in an art school indie band yet talking as if he’s a senior citizen.’ Scotsman
Kay’s appeal comes from the left field, his ambling style has ‘an uncanny ability to traverse normal boundaries between the weird and the familiar.’ Skinny
‘Wonderfully improbable’ Scotland on Sunday
I’m pleased to announce that I’m off to perform a solo show at Machynlleth Comedy Festival
DAVID KAY
AYE FINE
Arriving at Machynlleth this year is David Kay one of the hidden gems of the Scottish comedy circuit as seen on Comedy Central’s ‘The Alternative Comedy Experience’ and heard as ‘Modrin McDonald 21st Century Wizard’ on BBC Radio 4. Quirky, surreal and taking droll to the next level, Kay will be talking about and possibly wearing at least one base layer, maybe a hat and definitely trousers although not of the pyjama variety.
“Unconventional stand up and it’s all the better for it” The Stage
“Reminiscent of the deadpan American surrealist Stephen Wright …wonderfully improbable… ” Scotland on Sunday
Bizarre but accessible, slow-paced but quick-thinking, David Kay is one of the most unique and downright funny acts on the circuit today.
